WEEK #13 RESULTS THE RACE FOR 1ST TIGHTENS UP

Team Blair and Team Dirka eke out victories to close up the standings heading in to the last 3 weeks of the regular season…

In the early game both teams had full benches and all of their big guns ready to play. In the 1st, Team Blair scored early and added 2 more while Team Lia, despite lots of chances,  was only able to beat Gord once – 1st period ending with Team Blair up 3-1. In the 2nd the results were reversed with Team Lia finding their scoring touch with 3 goals and clamping down on defense allowing only a single marker. The 2nd period ended with the teams tied 4-4. In the 3rd, Team Blair scored twice while only allowing 1 despite intense late game pressure from Team Lia. Final score Team Blair 6 – Team Lia 5 in a fast, hard fought struggle – one of the better games of the Summer 2017 season …so far.

In the late game, both teams were missing some of their top scorers but enough talent was there to put up a pretty good struggle. In the 1st, Team Jacquie got to Gord early while keeping Team Dirka’s scorers in check, exiting the period with Team Jacquie leading 4-2. In the 2nd Team Dirka determined that shooting low was a pretty good strategy and put a couple of goals under G2’s stick and outscored Team Jacquie 4-0, entering the 2nd intermission, leading 6-4. In the 3rd, Team Jacquie quickly tied things up with a couple of goals but then the teams exchanged goals  before Team Dirka pulled ahead with a tenuous 2 goal margin late in the game. Some titanic faceoff struggles and a nice faceoff win and clear break to the net for an uncontested goal by RobA brought Team Jacquie to within a single goal but time ran out before they were able to tie it up. Good game with emotions running a bit hot at times – its what lacrosse is about in the hot, dog days of Summer 2017.
