2 games, no change in standings, Justin continues to win – same old, same old!In a portent for things to come IanG started off the 1st game with an early goal followed by another and another… but Team Lia kept it close with the first period ending with Team (Ian)Blair up 3-2. In the 2nd Ian scored another before Bummer added a different name to the Team Blair score sheet…BUT Team Lia also scored a couple keeping the score differential at 1 at the end of 2. In the 3rd Team Lia added a single goal as did Team Blair BUT Ian added 3 more markers to finish the game with 7…. IanG 7 + Team Blair’s 2 to Team Lia’s 5.<\/p>\n
In the 2nd game Team Dirka was short staffed with only 1 spare on the bench and missing a number of their main scorers – would there be enough scoring power to threaten Justin’s 21 game unbeaten streak? In the 1st, Team Jacquie scored 4 while Team Dirka’s JKOW was only able to reply with 1. In the 2nd, JKOW made a valiant attempt to imitate IanG’s 1st game performance by adding 3 more goals while Team Jacquie was only able to respond with 2 allowing Team Dirka to close the gap to a couple of goals. Would they be close enough to make a game of it? Last night…NO!… In the 3rd, Team Jacquie scored 5 while holding Team Dirka to only 3 – final score Team Jacquie 11 – Team Dirka 7. Lots of goals and lots of titanic face off struggles between the JKOW and RobA.<\/p>\n
No change in standings – Team Blair and Team Jacquie are within a single point at the top of the rankings awaiting their next battle to see who will emerge at the top. Similarly, Team Lia and Team Dirka are only a point apart at the bottom of the standings – jockeying for the last place spot to set up the “Last Place to Champion” narrative so popular in LMHLL history books.<\/p>\n
Next is Week #10 Wednesday July 5, 2017 Kinsmen Arena, where, due to a quirk in the schedule the matchups are the same as Week #9.<\/p>\n
