Preliminary team rosters and Wednesday night’s game schedule have been posted. I am trying to get the laggards to register or communicate their summer LAX plans (or lack thereof) over the next day or so, so that rosters can be more or less finalized. You know who you are! We have taken into account some requests for team changes, the perceived quality of new recruits and various player combination requests – a monumental, thankless task – please! no complaints till we see who actually registers and who shows up on a consistent basis. It would appear that we have 3.5 goalies lined up so far for the summer, Justin, Shawn and Guntis with Trevor returning in a couple of months when he’s had enough bonding with the new family addition. Gord has indicated that he will be back at some unknown point in time. It is still unclear how we will schedule goalies to promote parity – we’ll figure it out.

Anyway, opening night, 1st 2 games of the 2016 season, rematches of last years Championship and Toilet Bowl matchups (renamed as per 2016 policy).

Final tryouts tonight – lots of players on the bubble, old and wily veterans struggling to hold on to their high paying contracts being pressured by hungry youngsters ready to leave it all on the floor to get their shot at glory….well, maybe not in our situation but this crap always sounds good on TSN.

Last week the turnout was a bit disappointing – only 20-25 runners and the stamina only lasted till 10:15 or so though thee were a few keeners left on the floor for awhile honing their (booming) shots. Still just over 50 registered and 8-10 more more or less confirmed to come.

Another pickup evening tonight, come out 8:00, 8:30, 9:00 – but be aware that there may not be too many players left alive and mobile on the floor much after 9:00pm. If you haven’t registered online or paid yet, read the previous posts for details and bring along a cheque or cash tonight. If interested we will likely be retiring to the Alibi afterwards to discuss team new player drafts, trades and/or preliminary rebalancing. There has been some talk that maybe a full reshuffle might be in order but be aware that there seem to be 4-5 clusters of players that want to or should play together. Once the clusters are seeded, there is limited flexibility to place most of the rest of the (less picky) players. …sigh….. the things that have to be done to keep the prima donnas happy!  🙂

In  any case, full games start next week, rosters and a schedule will be posted as soon as I can get things figured out

The plan is again to play some informal pickup for the first two weeks (no refs), to get warmed up and see who survived the winter. So far, approx 45 players have already signed up online and at the first 2 Alibi registrations – the Alibi regoistered players should plan to play the first hour or so  – 8:00 – 9:00. Everyone else that has not registered or paid yet, please come to the arena, 8:00-8:30 to sign up and/or pay and register for insurance coverage online and then play either 9:00-10:00 or when the first hour’s contingent start to stagger from the floor. Again, the online signup can be done easier from home – just email me, gglinavs at sprynet.com to get detailed instructions along with the login and password.

The pre season buzz is electric – Will the teams remain intact? Can Team Cinderlla (Bill) repeat their last place regular season momentum and only win the important last games of the playoffs? Can Team Russ keep their streak of championship finals appearances intact (+4 years and counting). Will anyone need to be taken from the arena on a stretcher? Come out and lets see what happens!
