In a couple of hot games at Kinsmen last night, Team J leapfrogs into 1st place , Justin’s streak doesn’t get broken (but doesn’t get longer either) and the JKOW gets shutout and tossed – another exciting week in LMHLL lacrosse.

In the early game Team Blair was short benched and without their top scorer – not a good omen in their attempt to replicate last week’s easy victory over Team Lia. The teams traded goals in the first but Team Lia turned up the jets and outscored a rapidly tiring Team Blair, 4-2 in the 2nd and 5-2 in the 3rd. Must be something to do with KevinL’s steady defensive effort [<-paid/requested endorsement] or the team owner Lia’s blindingly brilliant fluorescent pink socks! In any case this weeks result was opposite to last week, Team Lia 11 – Team Blair 6 in a relatively easy victory.

In the 2nd it was Team Jacquie with the full bench and Team Dirka with only 2 extra runners. Team Dirka started early with a couple of goals and held on to exit the 1st, leading 3-2. But there were storm clouds on the horizon – the JKOW had 3-4 chances near the net but was unable to capitalize on any of them. Early in the 2nd, another shot, deflected off a defenders stick and hit team owner DirkaP resulting in a dangerous shot penalty and a power play goal. Team Jacquie kept the pressure on, outscoring Team Dirka 4-1 in the period and exiting the 2nd up 6-4. In the 3rd , things just got worse for Team Dirka – the JKOW, now pressing hard to break an unaccustomed scoreless streak, tried to power through traffic and hit the Brick with another dangerous shot! Automatic expulsion and the dreaded walk of shame, a penalty shot goal and down to only 1 spare on the bench! Team Dirka was only able to score once in the 3rd while Team Jacquie popped in 4 more markers to coast to an easy 10-5 victory and leap frog to the top of the standings.

Justin’s streak was safe as he (said he) was unable to play due to “coaching” reasons – rumour is that he is also unable to play next week – “scheduling issues” or just wanting to milk the 22 game unbeaten streak a little bit longer – seems a bit suspicious to me. 😉

Team Blair  vs.  Team Jacquie     9:00pm – 10:00pm.
