Last night, one close game, the other …not so much

In the early game, both teams were prepping for next week’s playoff games and a very close game was the result. Final score Team Jacquie 10 – Team Dirka 9.

In the marquee game for the league regular season championship, the expected tight battle…wasn’t. Team Lia dominated on their way to the Summer2018 regular season title – Team Lia 9 – Team Sharley 1. With the lop sided win, Team Lia gets to add their name to the GreasyBucketofUsedBalls Certificate for the 2nd time in the LMHLL modern era (Team Joe, the precursor to Team Lia, won the inaugural regular season championship way back in 2013).

On the other side of the scale, Team Dirka finishes last and receives their 3rd straight RollofCrumpledUpUsed(3m)Tape Participant certificate. Oh well, after the 1st beer at the Alibi, no one remembers anything but first place and who wins the overall championship.

JustinP finishes the season undefeated with a 14-0-1 record and a stellar 4.5 GAA. Pretty even distribution of teams that he played for and against so everybody had equal opportunity to beat him, and didn’t. We’ll see if he can continue his dominant play through the playoffs. Always an interesting strategy question – is it better to start with Justin in net or finish the game – good arguments for both.

Moving on to next week’s playoff round I will be emailing the team owners to determine their starting goalie picks – in the order of overall standings Team Lia will pick first, then Team Sharley and finally Team Jacquie with Team Dirka essentially getting no choice at all.

Team Sharley  vs.  Team Jacquie     8:00pm  –  9:00pm.

Team Lia  vs.  Team Dirka     9:00pm  –  10:00pm.
