10 minutes to the start of the early game – 2 runners for one team, and 3 for the other …sigh… at least the goalies were there and dressed. After a flurry (dusting? trace?) of late arrivals the 8:00pm game got underway.

Team Sharley was short benched again but was able to get enough scoring to coast to a relatively comfortable 11-8 victory over Team Dirka. After a 7 year absence from the lacrosse floor, CiennaW was on the highlight reel with the goal of the game – a hard shot to the top left corner for her first goal of the season!

In the late game both benches were well stocked and the game was exciting to the end. The lead changed hands a few times early on before Team Lia pulled ahead by 3. Team Jacquie kept pushing, closing the gap a couple of times before Team Lia would extend their lead again. As the 3rd period dragged on, Team Jacquie scored to get within 2, and scored again to close the gap to 1, and again! tieing it up with 5 minutes to go and then pulling ahead by 1 with 3 minutes to go! Team Lia pushed hard to get the equalizer but was unsuccessful. Some last minute ball control and time ran out – Team Jacquie 10 – Team Lia 9. A good, fun game early in the LMHLL 2019 season.

Next is Week #3 – Wednesday May 22, 2019 Nichols Arena

Team Dirka  vs.  Team Jacquie     8:00pm  –  9:00pm.

Team Sharley  vs.  Team Lia     9:00pm  –  10:00pm.

If anyone has extra pinnies in their lax bags or basement storage, please bring them along next week. We are a couple of pinnies short and replacements/additions are still a few weeks out. Similarly if there are any previous year players still watching the website, we would appreciate a donation of your (now unneeded) pinnie back to the league.
