London Masters Lacrosse League – New Series Kicks Off!
Team Lia Surges in Third to Take 1-0 Lead Over Team Cienna
The London Masters Lacrosse League launched its new summer series last night, introducing fresh leadership with Team Cienna and Team Lia at the helm. In classic Wednesday night fashion, fans were treated to a high-energy, back-and-forth battle that set the tone for the weeks ahead.
The first two periods saw both teams trading blows, each building up two-goal leads at different points, only to have their opponents claw back. The scoreboard read 8-8 heading into the decisive third period, thanks in part to some standout performances from newer players on both sides and a string of impressive saves by both goalies.
But the third period belonged entirely to Team Lia, who found another gear and rattled off five unanswered goals—setting a new season benchmark for most consecutive goals in a period. That late-game surge sealed a 13-8 victory for Team Lia, who now hold a 1-0 series lead over Team Cienna.
It was clear that a little more midweek conditioning might be needed, as both benches felt the pace as the game wore on. Fortunately, recovery was just around the corner, with players heading to Mustang Sally’s for some well-earned adult beverages and to catch the dramatic Edmonton Oilers overtime win—an ideal way to unwind and let the muscles recover.
A reminder: We’re running every Wednesday night from mid-May to the end of August, so there’s plenty more lacrosse action (and post-game fun) to come. Whether you’re a veteran or a newcomer, now’s the perfect time to join the excitement—on the floor and at Mustang Sally’s afterwards!
